How this "o" can cost you (a lot) of sales
Today, an ultra IMPORTANT tip. It can cost you numerous sales, (really) foolishly.

Today, an ultra IMPORTANT tip. It can cost you numerous sales, (really) foolishly.
I thought of this advice simply because I encountered this problem over the weekend. Let me explain...
Saturday 2:30 pm
8 children aged 6 and 7 ring the doorbell.
We're celebrating my son's birthday with his school friends. A moment he had been eagerly awaiting...
Despite the anticipated chaos and decibel levels much higher than usual (the neighbors will remember it for a long time!), the birthday afternoon was a great success.
And, of course, I captured it in a good sixty photos.
Sunday 11:15 am
I collect the photos from the day before and put them in a library that I update after each event.
The goal: to gather all the photos of my son from his 6th to his 7th birthday and create a photo book keepsake.
Every year, my wife and I do this, and it makes it easier for us to find these memories: vacations, Christmas, family meals, birthdays...
My wife had set aside a flyer received in an order with a code offering a 40% discount on creating a photo book.
So, she spends the late morning uploading the photos to the site and a good part of the afternoon creating the book.
I don't know if you've ever created photo books, but it takes a lot of time!
Once satisfied with her creation, we look at the result as a family. Great. All that's left is to place the order.
We should receive it by the end of the week (and we can't wait)...
I let my wife finalize the order when suddenly I hear...
"It doesn't work! I'm fed up! They fooled us with their non-functioning code!!"
I quickly return to the living room to understand the problem. My wife is stuck at the promo code section.
Your code is not valid
I read the conditions.
It's indeed our first order.
The minimum amount matches.
We're within the dates.
Incomprehensible.
I check the code, and it seems to correspond.
But suddenly, I think of one thing.
Is it an o, an O, or a 0 in the code?
I retype the code, replacing the o with a 0, and voilà, it works!
I can assure you that if I hadn't been there at the time of the order, my wife would have abandoned her purchase.
Worse, she would have probably told our friends that this printing service is dishonest.
All because of a simple mistake.
The moral of the story?
In all your promo codes, be very careful with the letters and numbers you choose to avoid any confusion.
My advice for today → completely eliminate the following letters and numbers:
I (uppercase i)
i (lowercase i)
l (lowercase L)
1 (number one)
0 (zero)
O (uppercase o)
o (lowercase o)
These letters and numbers can cost you sales and worse, impact your reputation!
For my part, I will discuss with my team to remove these letters and numbers when one of our clients generates a promo code on WiziShop. At least, no mistakes possible for WiziShop users!
Have a great day,
Greg
